Finding New Life This Easter

Easter is the cornerstone of the Christian calendar, a season where we move from the shadows of the cross into the brilliant light of the resurrection. It is a time of profound transformation, not just for the world two thousand years ago, but for each of us today.

The Symbolism of the Easter Egg

While many see Easter eggs as a modern tradition, they carry a beautiful spiritual parallel to the resurrection story. Think of the hard shell of an egg as the sealed tomb where Jesus was laid. Just as the stone was rolled away to reveal an empty grave, the cracking of an egg reminds us of that breakthrough.

The most powerful part of the metaphor is the life inside. When a chick hatches, it leaves the confines of the shell behind to enter a brand-new world. This represents the New Life we have in Jesus. He walked out of the tomb, defeating death so that we might walk in freedom, leaving our old selves behind.

Our Calling: From Witnesses to Messengers

The story doesn’t end at the empty tomb. In Matthew 28, we see the pivotal moment where the women and the disciples encounter the risen Christ. His instruction to them—and to us—is clear:
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." (Matthew 28:19)
We are called to be witnesses. To witness isn't just to see; it is to testify to the truth of what has happened. If Jesus could bear the weight of the sins of the entire world on the cross, the very least we can do is share the joy of His victory with others.

A Simple Way to Witness

Sharing the Gospel doesn't always require a pulpit; sometimes, it just requires a pen. A wonderful way to be a witness this year is by sending an Easter card.

Use the card as a tool to share a message of hope. You can explain how Jesus created a bridge for us to have a personal relationship with God. In a world that often feels heavy, a simple card with a message of eternal hope can be the very thing that introduces someone to the grace of Christ.

Becoming a Living Testimony

Being a disciple-maker starts with recognizing the sacrifice made for us. Because Jesus conquered the grave, we are no longer defined by our past mistakes or our fears. We are defined by His grace.

This Easter, let the "cracked shells" in your life remind you of the stone that was rolled away. We serve a living Savior, and the greatest way to honor His sacrifice is to go out into our communities—through our words, our kindness, and our cards—and live as reflections of His love.

He is risen indeed!

Lets celebrate the empty cross this Easter.
