Victory in the Tomb
From Chocolate Eggs to the Empty Tomb: Finding the Ultimate Victory
For a long time, Easter was just a date on the calendar—a reason to eat chocolate eggs until I got a cavity. It was a holiday, but it didn't have a heartbeat. That changed when I realized the truth: Easter isn't a day of mourning or a religious tradition. It is a day of victory.
My first Easter as a Christian has been a revelation. God made me more excited for this than even Christmas, because while Christmas is the gift of His arrival, Easter is the gift of His triumph. It is the moment we realize we aren't just "religious"; we are children of God because of His sacrifice and His victory over death.
The Reality of the Garden
Three days after the crucifixion, followers went to the tomb expecting to find a body. They were met with an empty space and a message that changed history: “He is not here; he has risen.”
That empty tomb is the first physical evidence that the grave could not hold Him. For the church and for everyone who believes, this is our "rowing together" moment. Celebrating with the church community felt like becoming part of a family, all in the same boat, breaking bread and thanking the Lord for pulling us in and telling us we are His.
A Message for the "Normal" Person
You might be reading this as a non-Christian, feeling like you’re just a "normal" person or a "good" person. Maybe you think Jesus is only for "religious nutters" who talk about Him all the time.
But I want to be blunt with you—and I say this with love and joy, not to hurt, but to strengthen you. Consider Jesus today. Consider that He is the Son of God and the only way to the Father. He isn't a historical figure; He is the Kingdom and the Glory.
The "What If" That Changes Everything
I’ve learned that my bluntness is a tool to cut through the nonsense and the "silly questions" we use to distract ourselves. I want to challenge you with the same "what if" that changed my life:
• What if Jesus is real in your life?
• What if you could have a real relationship with the Creator of the universe?
• What if the victory He won on that cross was meant for you, too?
The Call to Join the Family
The calling on my life now is to be a witness—to speak truth into the situations people are in and to stand firm in what Jesus has given us. The stone was rolled away so that we could step out of the darkness of "just being a good person" and into the greatness of being a child of God.
Today is not a day for rituals; it’s a day for a new beginning. God is here with you. He loves you. He wants a relationship with you. You are invited into this victory, too.
Don't just settle for a holiday. Consider who He is, and become a great person through Him today.
